Discussions in visual arts education and creative careers

As part of my recent sabbatical, I interviewed transfer partners and professionals in a relationship building capacity. My goal was to converse on topics related to strategic plans addressing future technology in higher education for the visual arts as well as the creative industry. I visited with 23 arts educators and industry professionals to discuss refreshing and re-calibrating our understanding of what is expected / available to students as they transition into the 4 year arena and beyond.

While by no means exhaustive, the the summary report included below describes our discussions and suggestions. Opportunities for dialog such as this will no doubt help us advocate for student success and needs in the visual arts. Ultimately listening and absorbing the diverse positions of experts in the field will stand to enhance collective understanding and problem solving as we share across higher ed institutions and creative employers.
